News headlines are prophesying a third wave of coronavirus cases in the nations.

According to the Associated Press, the rise of coronavirus cases prompted scientists to say the United Kingdom is now in the midst of a third wave of the pandemic.

“It seems almost certain that we will face a third episode of rising COVID-19 infections,” said James Naismith, a professor of structural biology at the University of Oxford. “It seems likely that the Indian variant will mostly confine itself to the unvaccinated younger population. It is much less likely to cause serious disease in this group. However, less likely is not the same as zero. With large enough numbers of infections, appreciable numbers will get seriously ill.”

Meanwhile, in India—a nation in the midst of a brutal second wave of coronavirus—experts are predicting a third wave of the plague might affect children. Reports indicate there’s already an increase of children getting infected with the virus during the second wave compared to the first, according to The Indian Express.

In South Africa, the third wave of coronavirus has already arrived, according to top vaccinology researcher Professor Shabir Madhi, dean of the faculty of health sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand. More than 1.6 million Covid-19 cases have been detected in the country so far and almost 55,000 of those diagnosed with the disease have died.

Some experts are suggesting the United States is actually entering a fourth wave of the deadly virus. Rochelle Walensky, the new director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, begged Americans to keep following public health guidelines amid small but alarming upticks in cases, hospitalizations and deaths. “Right now, I’m scared,” she said.
