I’ve had several prophetic words on political violence in recent months. I can’t shake it, especially after seeing the vice president of Argentina narrowly escape an assassination because the would-be-murderer’s gun jammed.

It seems political violence is roaming about beyond Banana Republics and darker nations where the Gospel meets with heavy resistance. Political violence is brewing in Europe and America—and if we don’t take a stand in the spirit I believe it’s only going to get worse.

That’s not what anybody wants. Or at least that’s not what we say we want. Indeed, eighty-five percent of Americans disagree that it is acceptable for a member of their political party to threaten and/or intimidate others to achieve a political goal, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll. Yet, this continues to happen.

Eighty-three percent also disagree that violent acts are acceptable in order to achieve their idea of a better society. Additionally, 85 percent of Americans do not believe it is acceptable for someone in their political party to commit violence to achieve a political goal.

Again, we tend to agree this is unacceptable, but do we pray in line with what we believe? We need to. The concern is rising, valid, and perhaps imminent in many nations. Fear is beginning to rise.

Two-thirds of Americans are concerned about acts of violence committed against people in their community because of their political (66%) or religious beliefs (64%). The majority of Democrats (73% and 71%) and Republicans (60% and 58%) are concerned about acts of violence for political and religious beliefs. Eighty-two percent of Americans say that domestic terrorism is a threat to American society.

In October, Awakening Prayer Hubs is standing against political violence. Would you pray with us? The prayer points are below. Join the movement at www.awakeningprayerhubs.com. Tap into our Zoom firewall and pray with others!

Let’s pray:

Repent of any rebellion, political violence, and anarchy.

Pray the Lord would shed light and expose any devised plans of violence or wicked council in the political realm. Pray God will expose any evil spirits driving political violence so we can push back their wicked works (see Ezekiel 11:1-4).

Pray for protection from those who seek to instigate violence on the governmental mountain (see Psalm 140:4.)

Pray violence and destruction would no longer be within our borders (see Isaiah 60:18)

Pray leaders of nations and elected officials would lead with wisdom and the fear of the Lord (see Psalm 2:10-11).

Pray for peace and prosperity to be within our cities (see Psalm 122:7)

Pray for God’s perfect plans over nations as end times events escalate. Stand in the gap for nations so the Lord has his reward (see Psalm 96:14, Proverbs 16:9, Ezekiel 22:30).

Pray God will raise up people after His own heart for leadership positions in the nations, showing them the right way to go (see Daniel 2:21; Psalm 25:9; John 14:26).

Pray wisdom for governmental leaders and police departments on how to deal with this politically violent climate in which we find ourselves (see James 1:5; Psalm 5:8).

Pray boundaries be set in the nations according to God’s design (see Deuteronomy 32:8; Isaiah 41:10).

Pray against the spirit of anarchy (see Mark 4:39; Romans 13:1-7).

Pray political opponents will humble themselves and campaign with truth and grace rather than insults and lies (Matthew 5:44; John 7:24).

Pray the insubordinate and deceivers stirring up strife and contention be silenced (see Titus 1:10-13; Proverbs 13:10).

Pray politicians working to incite people to evil acts will be exposed before they succeed (2 Peter 1:21; Romans 12:21; Ephesians 5:11; Luke 1:37).

Pray against political action committees recruiting and financing extremists (see Job 5:1).
