The world is headed toward a food crisis. And most of the church is not paying attention.

That needs to change. Right now.

Here is what is happening. Governments are scrambling to secure critical crop nutrients ahead of spring planting as the Middle East war chokes off commodities and amplifies fears of a global food crisis. Spring planting is not coming. It is here. The window is closing fast.

And behind the energy crisis is a second crisis most people are not talking about. Fertilizer.

Nearly half of the world’s traded urea (the most widely used fertilizer on earth) flows out of Gulf countries through the Strait of Hormuz. That strait is now effectively closed. Urea prices have surged roughly 40 percent. As much as one-third of global fertilizer trade could be disrupted if the closure holds.

No fertilizer means lower yields, less food and higher prices. This is not a forecast. This is a cascade already in motion.

Farmers who cannot afford fertilizer will skip it. Lower yields for staple crops like rice, wheat, maize and soybeans will restrict global supply. And that restriction will be felt in every nation on earth. Including yours.

We Were Already in Crisis Before This

Do not think this started last month. 318 million people are already facing acute hunger. Two simultaneous famines have been confirmed, in Gaza and parts of Sudan, the first time this century that has happened.

Two famines. At the same time. In the 21st century.

WFP analysts warn that 45 million more people could fall into acute food insecurity if the Middle East conflict does not end by mid-year and oil prices stay above $100 a barrel. That would push total numbers toward the worst levels recorded since the Ukraine war broke out.

This is a convergence. Conflict. Climate shocks. Economic instability. Supply chain disruption. All pressing in at once.

Disruption never stays local. A drought in Brazil hits global meat prices. A policy shift in Russia tightens wheat supply across multiple continents. Now add a war shutting down one of the planet’s most critical shipping lanes. The system is under pressure from every direction simultaneously.

Nations already know it. Finland, Norway, Indonesia and Sweden are rebuilding national food reserves right now.  Governments are moving. Is the church moving?

This Is a Spiritual Crisis Wearing a Natural Mask

Famine is not just an economic event. It never has been. Open your Bible. Famine followed rebellion. Famine followed covenant breach. Famine was a weapon of spiritual warfare long before it was a headline.

The enemy does not need to launch a new attack. He only needs to accelerate the collapse of what is already fracturing. We are seeing conflict, greed, closed shipping lanes, and disrupted harvests. He is opportunistic. He will use every open door.

But here is what the watchman knows. God is not surprised by any of this. He saw the Strait of Hormuz closure before the first shot was ever fired. He knew the fertilizer supply chains would come under pressure. He foreknew the convergence.

And He is still looking for someone to stand in the gap.

You Have a Post

Awakening Prayer Hubs is a global network in 130-plus nations. We are not positioned everywhere by accident. God placed watchmen in specific regions for specific reasons. If your hub sits in Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, or anywhere that imports food and fuel, you are not a bystander in this crisis. You are a gatekeeper.

Here is your assignment. Pray against the spirit of famine driving this convergence. Intercede for the Strait of Hormuz and the conflict fueling its closure.

Stand in prayer over the spring harvests that are being planted right now under threat.

Cry out for the 318 million already in crisis, especially in Gaza and Sudan where famine has already been confirmed. Ask God to supernaturally override what natural disruption is trying to accomplish.

Then pray for your own nation. Ask God to give leaders wisdom. Ask Him to protect supply chains. Ask Him to move before prices rise beyond what the most vulnerable can bear.

Do Not Sit This One Out

This is not the moment for passive Christianity. This is not the season to stay comfortable and uninformed while the watchman’s alarm is sounding.

The signs are in the headlines. The need is urgent. The hour is critical.

You carry a mantle. You carry an assignment. You were placed in your region for such a time as this.

Stand against the food crisis. Take your post. Open your mouth in the courts of heaven.

The gates are waiting for gatekeepers to show up. Be one.
