While In the throes of a massive heat wave, at least 28 people have died across the United States. Is this a sign of the times?

As of this writing, more than a million people are without power in Texas. This after a hurricane hit the Lone Star State four days ago. Meanwhile, Las Vegas is experiencing more than five consecutive days of temperatures above 115 degrees. One day the temperature rose to a whopping 120 degrees. This is not only shattered records, but reportedly is also shattering glass. This heat wave is breaking records in cities around the country.

Extreme Weather is a Sign of the Times

In recent years, the escalation of extreme weather events has captured global attention, pointing to what many believe are signs of the times. From unprecedented hurricanes and tornadoes to severe droughts and wildfires, these phenomena highlight the urgency of addressing climate change and its profound impact on our world.

For some, these events are seen through a spiritual lens, interpreted as fulfilling biblical prophecies that warn of natural disasters as harbingers of significant changes and divine messages. As we navigate these tumultuous times, it’s crucial to recognize the interconnectedness of our actions with the environment and the spiritual implications many perceive in these dramatic shifts.

The homeless and elderly are especially vulnerable as temperatures continue to soar. We are truly living in a Psalm 91 moment.

How Should We Pray?

We know we cannot pray away the end times but we can make intercession for people facing extreme conditions.

Pray for the safety of those drastically affected by this heat.

Pray that lost souls will have an epiphany and give their lives to Christ.

Pray for revival to break out around the globe.

Pray as the Holy Spirit leads.
