What Is the Family Mountain?
The family mountain represents one of the seven primary spheres of societal influence, along with government, religion, education, media, arts and entertainment, and business. The family is God’s design for discipleship, as outlined in Deuteronomy 6:6-7, where He commands His people to teach His Word diligently to their children. Families are meant to be incubators of faith, love, and godly identity.
From the beginning, the family was God’s idea. In Genesis 2:24, we see the foundation of marriage and family: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” The family mountain is where God’s love, character, and covenant are first modeled and passed down to future generations.
Why Do We Need Revival on the Family Mountain?
The family is in crisis. Divorce rates, fatherlessness, abuse, rebellion, and the redefinition of God’s design for marriage and family have left families broken and disillusioned. The enemy understands the strategic importance of the family mountain, and he is relentless in his attacks against it.
Malachi 4:6 speaks of God’s heart for family restoration: “And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.” Without revival, the family mountain will continue to crumble, leaving generations to grow up without the firm foundation of God’s truth and love.
Revival on the family mountain is crucial because healthy families birth healthy communities, churches, and nations. Revival in families will spill over into every other mountain of influence, setting the stage for widespread transformation.
What Opposes Revival on the Family Mountain?
The family mountain faces fierce opposition from spiritual and cultural forces. Here are a few significant threats:
- Demonic Agendas: The spirit of Jezebel seeks to manipulate and destroy families through division, control, and rebellion (Revelation 2:20). The spirit of Athaliah attacks generational blessings and legacy (2 Kings 11).
- Cultural Shifts: Society increasingly embraces ideologies that contradict God’s Word, such as redefining marriage, normalizing gender confusion, and undermining parental authority.
- Generational Curses and Cycles: Without intervention, patterns of addiction, abuse, poverty, and dysfunction are passed down from one generation to the next (Exodus 34:7).
- Busyness and Distractions: Many families are too consumed with work, technology, and entertainment to prioritize God and one another.
What Would Revival on the Family Mountain Look Like?
Revival on the family mountain begins with hearts turning back to God and to one another. When revival comes, we will see:
- Restored Relationships: Families will experience reconciliation as God heals broken marriages, restores relationships between parents and children, and binds up the wounds of betrayal and unforgiveness (Isaiah 61:1-3).
- Spiritual Discipleship in Homes: Parents will rise up as spiritual leaders, teaching their children to love and follow the Lord (Joshua 24:15). Prayer and worship will become central in family life.
- Godly Identity Established: Sons and daughters will know who they are in Christ, breaking free from confusion, rejection, and fear (Psalm 139:13-16).
- Generational Blessings: Generations will be aligned with God’s purposes, walking in unity and favor (Psalm 112:1-2).
- A Witness to Society: Revival in families will become a light to the world, showcasing the beauty of God’s design for family and inspiring others to turn to Him.
